Adventure in the Philippines, Organised Properly

Canyon jumps, reef breaks, rice-terrace treks and freediving lines — real adventure, with the permits, guides and logistics quietly handled.

An adventure holiday that doesn't feel like an expedition

The Philippines is one of Asia's great adventure destinations hiding in plain sight. The activities are genuinely world-class — and because they're scattered across different islands, the trick is stringing them together without spending your holiday in transit. That's where we come in: proper local operators, safety kit that's actually checked, and routes that put the adrenaline and the recovery beach in the right order.

The classics are all real and all bookable. Canyoneering at Kawasan in south Cebu is the one everyone talks about — a morning of leaping and sliding down a turquoise river gorge, finishing beneath Kawasan Falls. We tailor the intensity: the full Badian route is a genuine physical half-day of jumps and swims, while families can simply visit the falls without the leaps. Cebu keeps giving beyond it — sunrise over the sea of hills from Osmeña Peak, and waterfall rappelling at Montañeza for those who want a rope in their hands.

On Siargao, the headline is surfing Cloud 9, the country's most famous reef break; the main swell runs roughly September to November, while March to June is calmer, beach-weather season. But the island is far more than its wave. The Three Islands Tour loops Naked, Guyam and Daku by boat; Magpupungko reveals a maze of natural rock pools at low tide, so the day is planned around the tide table; Sugba Lagoon is a paddle by canoe through the mangroves to a jump tower over impossibly green water; and the coconut highway is best ridden by motorbike, palms arching overhead the whole way. Fly in to IAO from Manila or Cebu, allow three to five nights, base yourself in General Luna or near Cloud 9 — and book well ahead in surf season, when the island fills.

Elsewhere, ATV rides around the Chocolate Hills on Bohol, mud and all, sit alongside stand-up paddling the jade Loboc River and a jungle zipline. In North Luzon, the Banaue and Batad rice terraces — centuries-old walls of green carved into the mountains — are trekked village to village, with a night in the amphitheatre at Batad and a scramble down to Tappiya Falls. And in the water beyond surf: freediving courses at Panglao and Moalboal, two of Asia's best places to learn on a single breath, and kitesurfing on Boracay's Bulabog Beach, which the amihan wind turns into one of Asia's most reliable kite lagoons from November to April.

Fitness, not heroicsMost activities suit anyone reasonably active — we match each day to your group and always brief you honestly on what's involved.
Season-matchedSurf peaks Sep–Nov on Siargao; kite season on Boracay runs Nov–Apr; canyoneering and treks are best in the dry months. We route around all of it.
Recovery built inGood hotels, massages and free beach days between the big days — adventure by day, comfort by night.

Signature days we arrange

Jumping into a jade-green pool halfway down the Kawasan gorge while your guide films it. Watching sunrise over the Batad terraces from your lodge before the day's trek. Taking your first ride on a whitewater wall at Cloud 9, then celebrating over the island's famous post-surf breakfast. Even the island-hopping changes character with the map, and we pick the version that suits you: the classic Tours A to D through El Nido's Bacuit Bay, the lakes-and-wrecks circuit in Coron, a sunset paraw sail off Boracay under a single billowing sail, or Siargao's Three Islands loop. Where the crowds are the enemy of the experience, we'll suggest a private boat for the day — you set the pace, and you beat the tour fleet to the best spots.

If your adventure leans underwater, see our diving holidays; if you want the same spirit with smoother edges, our private tours page shows how we build the whole route.

Three adventures to start from

Routes with real logic behind them — reshaped around your dates, group and appetite.

The South Cebu Loop

7 nights

Cebu → Moalboal → Badian

Canyoneering at Kawasan, the Moalboal sardine run, waterfall-hopping and a beach base throughout — maximum adventure, minimum transfers.

Highlands to Islands

12 nights

Manila → Banaue & Batad → Bohol

Trek the rice terraces of North Luzon first, then fly south for Chocolate Hills ATVs, river kayaks and reef time — mountains and sea in one arc.

Wind & Waves

10 nights

Siargao → Cebu → Boracay

Surf lessons or Cloud 9 barrels on Siargao, a canyoneering interlude in Cebu, then kitesurfing Bulabog in season — timed to catch the right wind and swell.

Every trip is tailor-made — these journeys are inspiration, not fixed packages.
